I specialize in italic, copperplate, modern, and uncial writing. Copperplate is most formal; however, any style can be used for any type of event.

Most ink colors are available – allow for extra time if a specific color needs to be ordered. Black ink is the most popular and, in my opinion, makes more of a statement.

When should I send out event invitations?2023-04-09T20:59:43+00:00

Traditionally, invitations are sent 6-8 weeks before the event.

Save-the-date cards should be sent 6-8 months before the event, but can be sent up to a year in advance if all details are finalized.

Destination weddings need more advance notice so invitations should be sent out 3 months before and save-the-date notices should be sent out 8-12 months before.

The earlier the better. Allow for time to collect your materials, work out the details, and determine the best style for you. This also ensures I can get you on my schedule. Once we get the details straightened out and I receive your materials (envelopes, place cards, address list, etc.), my average turnaround time is at least 2 weeks per 100 items.

I require at least 15% extra blank materials (envelopes, place cards, etc.) at the start of each project. Most calligraphers have similar requirements to allow for potential additions and/or errors that may occur even after the project has started. Despite best efforts, mistakes happen! It is always easier and cheaper to order extra materials with your initial order, as later additions can be very costly and time consuming.

I prefer to work with white or off white, not black or other dark colors. I take great pride in my work, and I feel that light ink on dark paper simply cannot meet my standards due to inherent limitations of the ink.

Moreover, the quality of the paper is very important – ink usually does not adhere to shiny surfaces and may bleed through thin paper. Place cards need to be big enough to write a name on the space provided.

I require a typed list of addresses or names in alphabetical order by last name, double spaced and large enough to clearly read. This can be provided as a Word document. Spreadsheets are not acceptable.

50% of the estimated final amount is required at the time I receive the items needed to begin the job. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the job. I accept VENMO payments or checks made out to cash.

Please send changes/additions via email only as texts and phone messages cannot be added to the typed list. If possible, please send any changes or additions grouped together.
